1. What’s in it for me?


You get an experienced, trusted and reliable house and pet sitter. I look after your home and pets while you are away. Your home appears lived-in and inhabited to any would-be burglar. Your pets won't go hungry or lonely.  You save on cattery and/or kennel costs. Your pets are not at risk of catching diseases from the cattery/kennel. You don't have to ask your friends or family to house and pet sit.



2. How much does it cost?


It’s free! No money exchanges hands. You won’t have to pay a housesitting company, cattery or kennel. You don’t have to ask friends or family for a favour either. I house and pet sit for you, for free!

However, you will need to cover utility costs including power, water and internet for the duration of my stay. 



3. What else is in it for me?


Your house is safe and secure. Your pets are fed. Your plants are watered. Your mail is cleared. Your rubbish is put out. Your house is cleaned.

You can even rely on me to get some milk and/or other shopping items before you return and you can rely on me to pick you up/drop you off at the airport.


4. What’s in it for you?


I get a place to live in without paying Auckland rents, bills/bonds or letting fees.

7. What duration, region and/or area do you cover?


My preference is long term house and pet sits in the north Auckland region, either Rodney (Warkworth, Snell's Beach, Matakana, Dairy Flat, Hibiscus Coast, Whangaparaoa etc.) or the North Shore (Albany, Birkenhead, Glenfield, Northcote, Takapuna etc.).


8. What pets do you care for?


I have cared for fish, dogs and cats only. However, I am open to caring for chickens, rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, reptiles and insects. I don't have much experience with farm animals, but, try me!


9. What about insurance?


My understanding is that house insurance is void if the house is uninhabited for a long period of time? Therefore, a house sitter is a safe option that ensures you remain covered. I also understand that most insurance companies do not cover loss or damage caused by a house sitter.

I recommend that you: notify your insurance company that you've booked a house sitter, check if your home insurance covers "any accidental loss or damage" caused by a house sitter and check your excess. Unfortunately, I do not have house insurance OR public liability insurance. 


10. What do you provide?


I will provide my own food, bedding and electronic devices. Usually, I move my boxes of personal belongings into your house for the duration of my stay to free up space in my car. 


11. What should I provide?


You should answer my online questionnaire or write down a list of detailed instructions. You should also provide a spare house key, pet food, money for shopping items and/or pet food, fuel money and/or fuel vouchers for airport pick up/drop off. 

I will keep receipts of any purchases.


12. Why did you become a house and pet sitter?


I have flatted in Auckland for the past 10 years. However, in the last 3 years, renting/flatting in Auckland has become stressful: I have had to move around Auckland often due to the fact that when a lease expired, rent increased, landlords returned to the property and/or flatmates moved away to escape the Auckland housing crisis. I grew tired of moving.

When I received an offer to housesit for two months in Warkworth, I decided to become a house and pet sitter; I don't have my own home, children and/or pets; I love the freedom and flexibility house and pet sitting provides.

You can cancel. However, please give me 3 weeks notice so I can find other accomodation.
